We've got ourselves a comic book, Daybreakers! I...think?

In typical (to New Pain) roller coaster style, the campaign funded last night, barely, but crossed the line. When I woke up this morning, a cancel overnight meant that we were now underwater and longer funded. 

NOW, as I type these words, thanks to a generous, incredibly handsome and talented backer throwing a little extra in the pot this morning, we are EXACTLY funded, to the penny, not a nickel over.  

A little breathing room would be nice just to take the stressful edge off the morning, amirite? If you guys can hit the socials a little more, feel free to post this QR code I sent out before and hashtag #Daybreak3 so we can keep track. Someone's getting a prize at the end of the day!

But,  either way,  as of now Daybreak! #3 is funded and we are filled with gratitude to all 178 of you for making it happen. Two weeks left, let's beat the sh*t out of some stretch goals together, hey?

Daymakers! 

Monday morning and we're SO CLOSE to reaching our initial funding goal! Just a smidge over a hundred dollars away. If not for the several cancels we've gotten along the way, we'd have hit our mark already.

So frustrating! But think positive, think positive...

To help us over the finish line, we have a couple of new items to introduce this morning. The first...

A FINE PIECE OF ART

We've introduced an 18x24 inch, museum quality, hand-stretched canvas print of Tom and Robb's adults only cover or, as eloquently stated on the campaign page, we're putting the @SS in clASS.

These prints are beautiful but...they're expensive to produce. We've had to limit the quantities to 10 total: 5 as a new reward and 5 available as an add on, for $125. So if you've got a space on the wall of your man (or lady) cave (that may sound naughtier than intended) and want to fill it with this fun, flirty, cheeky print then let loose the dogs of war! 

Or refer a friend, if you'd be so kind.

PLUS... 

The mysterious FAHNA herself has offered up 5 11x17 prints of her cover art (colored by Rich Stahnke)! 

These prints can be signed by Fahna and are available as add ons for $10 per print. If you'd like one, all you gotta do is manage the ol' pledge and pop one in your cart.

Tom Nguyen has also volunteered to pose nude for any backers for $2.57 and, while we appreciate his enthusiastic support, that reward will not be listed on the page at this time.

Finally! "adults only" cover revealed!

Daymakers!

For several different reasons including (but not limited to) lack of communication and computer issues, it's taken a couple of days longer to officially unveil the (censored version) of Tom Nguyen's nude cover.

Well, the wait is finally over--and a special thanks to Robb Miller for stepping in to handle the coloring of this piece. Tom, in true artist fashion, has titled it, "SUN SURFING." 

Nice, huh? The color really pops.  Tom and Robb are a great art team, as readers of The Switch: Electricia already know.

IN GENERAL NEWS

We're only $600 away from our funding goal at the moment! I've had some swanky flyers printed up to give away at my Free Comic Book Day appearance tomorrow at Wonderland Comics in Putnam, CT and am hoping to bring in a few new backers.  If you're in the CT area, by all means stop by and make some awkward small talk with me, I'm super charming and handsome in person. Not as handsome as my twin, Karl Kesel, but who is?!

Week Two!

Daymakers!

Welcome to week two! We're currently just a tiny bit shy of 80% funded so, all in all, our first week together was a nice start. My hope is that by the end of week two, we'll be fully funded and working towards stretch goals (more on that in a sec).

I've been going through some of my files this week and found a Joe St Pierre-drawn double-sided sketch cover that, frankly, I forgot existed.  Joe was nice enough to draw a Daybreak! #1 sketch cover for us (I inked it because no one can tell me not to) because he's just a really great guy, honestly.  Here, take a look:

I've added Joe's cover to the campaign as an ADD-ON for $100 if anyone would like to become its proud owner. All you need to do is manage your pledge to add it. Hope you do, the extra money goes a long way towards pushing us through the last $1000 to reach our funding goal.

PODCAST!

Last night, I chatted with my pal Cody of Keeping It Geekly fame for a 45-minute interview to help promote the campaign. Keeping It Geekly and Blake's Buzz are my two favorite casts; if you're looking for fun, very positive comic-related content. STRETCH GOALS!

So the legendary Rick Leonardi has been doing something fun on his twitter feed the last couple of weeks.  Every day, Rick has been posting a page of an unpublished Superman story that I wrote and he penciled a while back.  It's one of my favorite things I wrote during a cursed period where everything I wrote for DC (Superman, Joker: Year One, three issues of JSA Classified, Batman: Brave And Bold, Nightwing and six issues of Green Lantern Corp, phew) went unpublished for one reason or another, (usually editorial changes or Dan Didio not liking me.)

Anyway, I've been enjoying re-reading my Superman story with Rick so I'm going to make it an additional stretch goal when we reach our first threshold of 5k. So aside from being able to unlock the ARTIST EDITION of #3, all backers will now receive a PDF of this lost Superman tale. It's a winner, check out Rick's twitter if you're curious.
