Latest Updates from Our Project:

NEW PROJECT! Plus, Daybreak #4 cover!

Hey Daymakers, been a minute. How's everyone doing lately?

As the title of this update states, New Pain is ready to launch its next project and it's our most ambitious yet:  NEW PAIN TWO-IN-ONE!

logo and cover dress not final

For our final campaign of the year, we'll be offering two books as part of one campaign. First up,  NPC JUMP #1, the new series by myself, Carlos Reno and Rich Stahnke.

The "NPC" of NPC JUMP stands for, "New Pain Challenge" because each issue will end with a cliffhanger that makes it impossible to continue to another issue. But from the front cover to the very last page, the story is full of clues. If you can put the pieces together and submit the correct guess, there's a pretty cool prize you're going to win, revealed the day the campaign goes live.

We're also including UNCOVERED #1, our first collection of variant cover art by approximately 30 amazing talents (plus Tom Nguyen). When your brain hurts after completing the New Pain Challenge, we figured you may just need to cool down the cerebellum by looking at some pretty pictures. We care, guys; plus that new cover by Paul Pelletier is pretty fun too!

The New Pain Two-In-One campaign is approved and will be launching on November 6th.  We always try to make sure our previous backers get the best discounts on our newest projects; if you're interested in either one of these projects (or both), please click that link and sign up to be notified when the party starts. Discounted tiers are limited and will expire after the first 48 hours.

And as you know, I always try to share a little something new for Daybreak! in these updates. That's why we're here, right? I'm really thrilled with the way the final, double-sized issue is coming along and I'm completely in love with Stefan's cover for our finale. How about you?

Look a little closer and speculate away! There are so many twists and turns ahead.

Thanks for your time today, guys. Let's catch up again soon.

Your bestie,

Keith Champagne

New Variant cover reveal, PLUS...

Daymakers!

Couple of quick action items today.

First, there's just over a week left in  THE CAMPAIGN FOR HATE STINGS, from the minds and talents of James Curry and our own Tom Nguyen. If you guys haven't checked out the campaign yet and want to share the project out to your circles and/or help James and Tom hit their funding goal, there are still some great rewards left to be claimed. Hate Stings is a very modest campaign, we only need roughly 40 more backers to join the party in order to crash through the finish line on this one. If we all work together, I'm sure this special little project will become a reality.

WHAT ABOUT DAYBREAK?!

I don't like to spam you with updates without showing off something new related to the project you've backed; I wasn't raised in no barn! So while Stefan and I continue working on the double-sized final issue of Daybreak! (coming in January unless something goes horribly wrong), I wondered if you might like to see the inks to one of the upcoming variant covers? I mean, if you don't want to see the art, stop reading this update now, OK?

Cover art drawn by Patrick Oliffe, with inks by me.

Really grateful to Pat Oliffe for joining the team and creating something special for our final issue.

I met 5-6 Daybreak! readers this past weekend (including Derek and John, whom I believe spent longer driving to the show than they did there) at GraniteState Comic Con in New Hampshire and it really made me smile to learn they're all really enjoying the book so far. We're excited to deliver the grand conclusion but...get ready to cry.

Thanks for your time today, Daymakers, and if you get an extra second, don't sleep on HATE STINGS.

We're excited for the KS debut of Hate Stings #1 and hope you'll be joining us on  THIS NEWEST ADVENTURE! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and hope to catch you next week!

NEW PROJECT ALERT: HATE STINGS #1
over 2 years ago – Wed, Aug 23, 2023 at 09:15:13 AM

Daymakers! How's everyone doing lately? Hope all of you are thriving in this dog-eat-dog world.

Wanted to give you a heads up about our new project, HATE STINGS #1, from writer/film maker James Curry and our own beloved Tom Nguyen, with colors by New Pain's adopted son, Rich Stahnke

Hate Stings is set during the Civil War, pre-Emancipation, and follows the true life stories of three families risking their lives for Freedom. It's an epic, gritty Lonesome Dove-type story and if it sounds like your cup of tea, the PRELAUNCH PAGE IS LIVE NOW. We hope you'll join us for the first chapter of this new adventure!

And don't worry, I wouldn't leave you hanging without any Daybreak news! Here's a first look at one of the variant covers to #4, by Netho Diaz and myself, currently being colored by Dash Martin.

Is it ever wrong to homage Mike Zeck? NO!

We'll have more news on Daybreak! #4 soon but in the meantime, hope to see you on September 4th for the launch of HATE STINGS #1

Thank you, Daymakers!

Daymakers!

At this point, all packages were mailed out from the printer last week and US backers should have all received your copies of Daybreak! #3 by now (or will have them very shortly, I'd imagine). It always takes a little longer for international shipping so if you're one of our beloved backers that lives overseas, hang in there and keep fighting the good fight. Your packages should arrive before you know it.

If you're inclined to say a few kind words about our series online, please tag us. Not only will it help to grow our community but you may just get something special for your efforts.

If you have any issues with your packages, please email [email protected] and our highly trained staff of bionic chimps will be glad to help you.

If you've read and enjoyed this latest chapter of Daybreak!, you have great taste and I'm glad we're friends. Stefan Tosheff and I are working to finish the double-sized #4 (now 46 pages of story) in time for a January campaign/unveiling.  Most of the weight of production is on Stefan's shoulders right now, unless he asks me to pitch in (we should have a contest to see if anyone can pick out pages from the previous issues I've ghosted) and it's a LOT of work but the good news is he's pretty amazing so fingers crossed it all comes together in time.

TALENT SEARCH

I would like to find an artist for an 8-page back up story featuring everyone's favorite primate handyman, The Custodian. First dibs to backers; if any of you want to submit samples before I cast a wider web,  please send to the same email address above and they'll get to me. Our friend Brian Dubbelde has gone from drawing the inside front cover of #3 to a Switch-related project written by our own Robb Miller and it's working out so well, we'd love to continue finding talent from inside club Daybreak.

FINALLY

And last but not least, if you've ever dreamed of seeing Tom Nguyen and I together at a show, we'll be side by side at Terrificon this weekend, at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT (the town I grew up in). If you're within driving distance, the guest list for this show is ridiculous. Well worth a drive.

Thank you all for making Daybreak! #3 happen.

Your grateful bestie,

Keith Champagne
